What are dental crowns?

How do the procedures for dental crowns and bridges work?

Although there are similarities in the procedure for dental crowns and bridges, the process differs slightly.

Dental crown procedure 

To receive a crown, your provider takes an impression of your tooth to replicate its shape. Then they file the enamel of your decayed tooth to properly fit the crown, securing it in place with dental cement. 

Once they secure the crown, your provider adjusts the tooth to make sure it comfortably fits.

Dental bridge procedure

Placing a dental bridge takes slightly longer than a dental crown placement.

To begin, your provider files the enamel of your adjacent teeth to place the necessary crowns. Then they take impressions of your teeth to make sure the bridge will properly fit between your teeth or crowns. 

Once the bridge is ready, your provider secures it in place, making any needed adjustments to ensure that it fits you comfortably. After the procedure, you should return to JP Dental Care for a follow-up appointment to ensure a successful outcome.
